ASTRA (Alternative Splicing and TRanscription Archives) is a database of elementary patterns of alternative splicing and transcriptional initiation.
The patterns stored in the database were detected by mapping full-length cDNA sequences onto genomic sequences and converting the derived exon-intron structures into binary representations by an original algorithm. A JAVA applet viewer of this database provides a user with a global view of exon-intron structures of transcriptional variants, and helps the user to consider the mechanisms of variable transcriptional initiation and splicing.
